Well, let's try to be a little more serious.
The original game ("DARK SOULS™ II") requires less resources and is much more chill.
"DARK SOULS™ II: Scholar of the First Sin" requires more resources, but the picture is much better (depending on your taste), more feathers, multiplayer mode is much better. Changes to locations, monsters, items, etc.
Whatever game you choose, check the system requirements before proceeding. Also, if you're asking about another game that isn't in the Dark Souls series... I'd suggest trying something else.
But since you are asking about these two options, choose the one that suits you better. I know this may seem obvious... But I hope it helps.
If you want summons for bosses, go with Scholar, if you can handle it yourself go for OG
There's more reasons than that obviously, but it's probably one of the bigger questions a new player should ask.
Scholar is kind of different in terms of item and enemy placement, and the way the game kind of leads you down a path (path which is different than OG). Imo as having played the OG first, then scholar, felt the way the item was placed and areas were locked off by way of statues you can remove with item, was much more carefully crafted in the OG version. Scholar in this way will be more sort of evened / smoothed out, if that makes sense. Now if a more smoother and perhaps more streamlined / accessible experience is your thing, go scholar.
I am very happy I played through the OG version first as it's the way the game was released to begin with, and has a special feeling and mood in it, worts and all.
Good luck!
Scholar is almost like a mod for DS2: a remix for fans who've already put a bunch of time into the original and want to mix things up a bit. Some changes are considered improvements but others aren't and can feel like change for changes sake.
But, as mentioned, it is where a lot of the player base is so if multiplayer is important to you then Scholar might be the best option.
I chose to do vanilla when going through the souls series and I don't regret it. I'm doing a DS2 replay now which I honestly didn't think I'd do and while I might get Scholar eventually, out of curiosity, the base game is honestly fine.
