A better sheild?
I made it to Sinner's Rise (Correct me if I got the name wrong) and i'm having some trouble fighting "The Lost Sinner." Manily because my sheild breaks everytime during the battle. I'm useing the old knights sheild, it only has 20 durability, but it's the best sheild I have. 100 pyshical damage reduction, and 60 stability. The rest of my sheilds have 90 damage reduction (or less) and much less stability. If you could point me in the direction for a better sheild that'd be great :)

Drangleic shield is the best you could get early game with 100% physical damage reduction. You go to the area where you first fought the pursuer behind the fog gate and drop down the broken area of the walkway and it's on a body.

Oh yeah, you can get the Tower Shield by joining the Blue Sentinels too, but it has fairly high requirements for early game.

Shields are not going to cut it for you the entire game, I highly suggest you begin rolling because it's by far the best way to avoid getting hit in the game.

If you have access to Steady Hand McDuff as a merchant, buy the Royal Kite Shield. It has 100 physical block, 50 stability, and 60 durability. If you don't have access to him yet, the Drangleic Shield that you can grab after the Pursuer has 100 physical block, 55 stability, and 70 durability.

I have been rolling but I can't dodge his/her every attack.

yea, old knights stuff... is old... If you need a light shield for defense, the silver kite shield isn't bad, you just lose a chip of health. That's also more of a greatshield... they aren't bad, they just suit a different playstyle. Typically tanks who can't dodge well. Try the tower shield you get after beating dark Pikachu if you prefer greatshields. Otherwise, use the drengleic one if you can until you get the dull ember after the first half of the iron keep. then you can get a lighter 100% physical shield from mcDuff.

You can't be expected to roll through every attack, even veteran players mess up timing or direction and get smashed sometimes.
Sword and Board isn't a bad way to play the game, play it how you want. You don't have to be a pro roller to enjoy the game.

its probably low adaptability, make sure it gets to 16-20 in level, then you should be able to dodge more things easily. Otherwise, a shield is for last resort. exept for the iron king's hand attacks... don't ever shield against those...

you can buy the royal kite shield with Steady Hand Mcduff. 100% physical block, very light and doesn't require a lot of STR to use. it's a good choice if you are having problems with the sinner, I suppose.

meh someone mentioned the shield already. lol

anyway, the shield is quite nice, but probably the drangleic shield will be the only one available by now since Mcduff only provides his services when you get the Dull Ember in Iron Keep. chances are, you don't have access to this location yet.

your best choice for now is the drangleic shield

+1 for royal kite shield

He probably hasn't been to the area to get the dull ember to unlock McDuff. So Royal Kite Shield isn't an option right now. Drangleic shield is his best choice, or tower shield if he can use it.

I though mcduff only needed the ember to infuse items, not to sell things :o
Doesn't he sell stuff as soon as you light the torch in his room?

no. he's not as "handy" as his name suggests, unfortunately.

He just loops text until you give him the ember.

Op I would recomend either the silver eagle or the drangliec, the drangliec is found after the pursuer boss room you simple have to drop through the large hole in the floor and grab it, silver eagle only has 90 resist but it should do the job for fighting sinner.
