Arced Sword
I just read the wiki article about the arced sword and it says that the Murakumo is better in pretty much everything but I just looks so damn good. Has anyone tried this weapon and found a good build for it?
I used the flexile sentry soul in my first run and I'm wondering if I should go through the trouble of getting it again to trade for this sword.

well statisticly the murakumo is better, maybe at extreamly high levels the arced sword would pass it but its hard to say, but that said, the murakumo isnt like masively better so if you like the look go head and use it it will still get the job done.
Any good builds for a sword like that. I never seem to get much damage out of greatswords. I#m about lvl 220 or something. I'd need to check for the exact number

If you're going for looks you could also try the curved dragon greatsword. At +5 it's got a B in strength and an S in dex.
I prefer the looks of cold steel ;)
I have the dragon greatsword but I just don't like those overly fantasy style weapons or the glowing buff animation

Apparently it's better for a quality build than the murakumo. At max upgrade murakumo only has an E in strength and an A in dex, while the arced sword has a C and an A, but It does have lower base damage I think.

Isn't a quality build always a bad choice? I read somewhere that in DS2 pretty much every weapon does more damage when infused especially against all those heavy armor guys

I played a quality build and it wasn't too different from strength, but if you want to use the arced sword that's most likely your best bet. Also, I wouldn't call all weapons better when infused, since some have low base damage and high scaling, such as the sun sword.

For PvE purposes they are pretty underwhelming, much better option to go with great hammers. I got a couple of Arced swords though, because they look so awesome and I want to try using them in PvP sometime.
I just got it and the moveset seems pretty great. Now I have to kill the Lost Sinner again so I can use a ascetic to farm for a soul vessel. I hate that boss :(

(And yes I want to use the sword in PvP)

Arced sword is just a slightly weaker; and heavier Murakumo even at high levels.

Also; as cool as the great curved swords are( they just aren't on par with other weapons;

The curved dragon sword is really the only viable CGS atm;

However; curved greats can't be parried when two handed with the exception of a roll attacks ; which makes them pretty awesome against parry fishers.
THIS WEAPON IS GREAT!!!! The moveset is fits perfectly if you fight without the lock-on function. Now I just need more petrified dragonstones to upgrade it
