Soloing this boss is the best strategy for a number of reasons. The main reason is that AD is a lot more unpredictable and chaotic with multiple players, and the other reason is AD's health is significantly increased.

If your summons die, you've made the fight harder. Learn to fight AD alone using one of the many strategies.

Also, killing the Ancient Dragon will reveal interesting lore. A small thing, but the implications are interesting.

I honestly dont know how you are supposed to beat him now, with Gower's Ring nerfed. That used to be the ticket, as it could stop his unavoidable cheap oneshot.

I've never tried that method. I just dodge the first blast and charge in to get a swing or two on his front left (on your right) foot. Then back up until you can see the whole dragon in your screen. Watch for animation and learn to tell if he's gonna fly or not. If he flies, you're already a bit away from him, so run like hell. The trick is to not run out of stamina when attacking, or you'll never run far enough away. You can't get greedy. Ever. This method is also not great, because sometimes you are too close to an edge and you will get hit by the blast.

The other common strategy is to whack on his back legs, and be sure to avoid his backward blast. This is the one I see people try the most. Honestly, I've never been part of a successful team. I've only beaten the dragon solo.

I beat him plenty of times without gower´s ring. Just learn the moveset and fight him alone.

I dont really see a point in killing it unless you just want to say you killed it, farming souls is easier at the Giant Lord and if you need that 5th giant's souls, just ascetic the first gultch bonfire and kill the giant group again.

I just beat him roughly 30 minutes ago, he's really not that bad. I mean...yea, he's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheap as ♥♥♥♥ with his unforgiving 1-shot mechanics, but really all I do is sit infront of his face, bait a fire breath or swipe, then run up and stab his foot, run back, rinse and repeat. Also, if I even suspect he's gonna start flying, I immediately run as fast as my little legs will take me. Beat him in two tries with that method, I also recommend using rings of life protection incase you die, it softens the blow of dying.

You didnt beat any dragon, he is an impostor. He doesnt drop the dragon soul. The only real dragon, the ancient one, that you can see in this game is in the main screenshot from my steam profile. Not many people has seen it.

Yea.. I know. That was the lore I was talking about. I don't know which screenshot you're referring to. Your profile page just has your avatar.. What other dragon do you mean? The dead one?
