But why in the hell they disabled this feature?
Saves are located here (hidden folder): C:\Users\***your user***\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsII
not everyone here is an expert, and if you are new to Steam probably most of your games support Steam Cloud and you would expect a somewhat recent game the likes of DS2 to support this feature as well... pretty crazy how FROM does not care about key Steam services such as the mentioned Cloud and, what do you know, Steam VAC.
Not really, many games sold on Steam don't have cloud. It's not disabled because it's not even a feature to begin with.
You can attempt to restore the files with this http://www.recovermyfiles.com/data-recovery-software-download.php, there is an evaluation version to try the software.
Note that this may not always work and some files may not be recoverable in all circumstances.
