I killed Manscorpion Tark

I had shot Tark from a distance without locking on and im hoping it will spawn a tombstone but im not entirely sure how it works, as if it takes 3 hours (real time) or I can just quit and rejoin. If you know please tell me since I don't know if hes key to continue in the game.

I've recieved info on that it takes 3 hours for a tombstone to spawn but I don't exactly know if thats correct if I could get some feedback I'd be ever so grateful

He gives you a Fragrant Branch of Yore if you talk to him with the ring of whispers after killing Scorpioness Najka, ang if you've spoken with him you can summon him for the fight.

I killed Scorpioness Najka and went back but Tark wan't there, I had the ring on as well. Did I screw up since I killed Scorpioness Najka without asking for help first?
