Why does it matter? Steam is an x86 application anyway
it don't care about steam client, there is a huge difference between whether the game is installed in 86 or 64 bit, pls don't answer if you have no clue what you are saying
There is no difference in what folder it is installed. :) Game itself is 32 bit application. So no x64.

It's not 86 bit. x86 is not the "bit count". It's the processor's instruction set, but in general, if something gets installed in Program Files (x86) it means the executable is a 32 bit program.

omg ppl u must all kno that 64bit is 64 bit .. but x86 is acually 32 bit ... and the folder is saved in x86 sry if i typed bit infront of it, but the thing is if i install it in the right folder it will help boosting it alittle somehow, and yes there is a difference and the problem been solved by reinstalling steam and installing it on the right folder, which is program file " and not program file x84

So much confusion and half-knowledge.

Steam is a 32bit application, so its default install directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\steam.
Anything you install through steam will be installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\ unless you specifically tell steam to install it somewhere else.

A 64bit executable being installed in a subfolder of \Program Files (x86)\ does not magically make it not a 64bit executable anymore, though. It's just a convenience from microsoft so you can keep track of your 32 and 64bit programs.
Why is it even a problem if the gae is a 32-bit executable? All it means is the Processor doesn't chew through the data as fast as it does a 64-bit executable, at least from what I know.

If you really want to have Dark Souls 2 in your regular C:\Program Files folder, you'll have to uninstall it, add C:\program Files to your steam install directories in your steam settings and select that folder as the new install directory for Dark Souls 2.

I don't know why you'd bother though, because it makes absolutely no difference. Where an executable is located has no effect on whether it's a 32 or 64 bit executable.

Placing a x64 but application in programming files x86 will not limit the performance of the application because the folders are just given by Microsoft as a convenience for users to know which applications are 64but and which are 32bit

Sorry to completely necro this thread, but in case anyone else lands here like I did I want to clear this up. The "bit" number is the size of a word sent through the data bus in your computer. Basically it is the amount of data that the processor can deal with at one time. It also affects memory size for programs; a 32-bit program can only address 2^32 bytes (4GB) of data in RAM, while a 64-bit program can address 2^64 bytes (16 exabytes).

So close. Im really not trying to be a a hole, but for lost souls who have found there way here, as I and sir zoidberg have, should note that a 64 bit processor can address 16 EXBIbytes. Which comes out to just over 18 EXAbytes. Im sure the doctor knew that and got them mixed up because if you know what a exabyte is then chances are you probably know what a exbibyte is.
