How to access Sir Alonne's memory ?

I've beaten both fume knight and smelter, and I've got the complete Nadalia soul...but I still cant access the memory when I click on the armor. Is there some item or requirement I'm missing ?

Don't need to kill him, just talk to him. Make sure you don't aggro it till he gives it to you, heard it can stuff your game up. Not sure on that one, haven't tested it myself.

If you kill him and don't have the Ashen Mist Heart in your inventory, he will drop it. If you aggro him and don't think you can kill him, you can talk to Cromwell the Pardoner to de-aggro the Ancient Dragon.
