You'd get tagged for that as soon as you got online pretty much. If you're this concerned about getting banned, gut it out and make your build/gear loadout legitimately.
One of the first things they look through is inventory data on the save. That's how they identify megamulers that make their SM "legitimate" ranges on consoles.

I wouldn't recommend using it unless you're always in Offline mode and manually get rid of the modified characters before starting the Menu in Online Mode.
Not worth it, imo. Make a new account and buy another copy there if you wish so you can have "playground" just for modding and cheating.
If they ever fix that work around it's likely going to flag the "Cd-Key" (product key) of the game and effectively "ban" all the accounts from playing with the shared product.
So if you cheat in a different account expecting it to not affect your main account, you may be in for some bad news sooner or later.
