WTF.... How to restart or reset your progress from last bonfire????
How do you restart or reset from the last bonfire traveled to or rested at? If you make a mistake (accidently kill an NCP or delete an item), when I quit and reloaded my save it brings me back to EXACTLY were I left off?!?!.. Even after a mistake happened, I unplugged my entire computer, rebooted the system and then restarted the game and I was at the EXACT same location!!!! WTF!!!

I thought the game only saves your progress when you use a bonfire?? I'm not using either a bonfire or the "save game" option and I can't go back 2 milliseconds in the games timeline?!

The game auto save almost every second. You should know that by now.

Nope.It constantly saves your progress.

The game auto-saves every few moments, not just at bonfires. Bonfires are only checkpoints from which you respawn. Unless you manually backed up your saves before you killed the NPC, there is no possibility you can rollback to a previous timestep.

That's right, kind of the entire point of the game. Choices have consequnces, deal with it.

how can you accidently kill an NPC? i can understand if your cat jumps onto your keyboard or something, but if you maliciously hit the r1 or r2...REPEATEDLY and cry like a girl because you didn't know (even though you can't lock onto NPCs unless you attack them).

also LOL at your countermeasure of pulling the computer out of the wall to stop it saving.....oh god i can't stop laughing.

Dark Souls = Ironman mode by design.

Welcome to Dark Souls... can't undo what you do, so think before you do...

Well, here's a tip for future use which might come handy. Make a back-up of C:\Users\<your_user>\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsII when you feel like you want to try something stupid. Thus you can rollback to your previous save in case you don't like the outcome. It's also helpful to do it every now and then in case a hacker corrupts your game.

I thought using backup saves gets you softbanned?
FireBlast Aug 21, 2014 @ 7:21am
Does it? I'm pretty sure Namco mentioned somewhere ago that using back-ups unmodified will not trigger a soft-ban. I haven't personally tried it though, I only made a few back-ups at every 2-3 hours of gameplay in case a hacker decided to ♥♥♥♥ up my game. So far I've been lucky.

It shouldn't, I think they meant save editing gets you banned.

Accidents happen to me all the time.!!
Spinkle Aug 21, 2014 @ 7:33am
I have the "thorn ring", so when I was close to an NPC and was hit by a spider from behind it killed the spider and Ornifex whom I was speaking with. Same thing happened to me when I was talking with Olaphis, one of those friggin zombies snuck up the stairs and hit me from behind.

Consequnces are one thing.. but I did not choose to kill the NPC.. it was a legit accident.
