Scythe of Want worth it?
Thinking using a soul vessel to re-scale to make a build around this. Is it worth it for PVE? Was looking at the wiki and needing BOTH int and faith, it just doesnt seem worth it.

Currently a pyromancer just incase anyones wondering.

IS THE SCYTHE OF WANT VIABLE? Or is it a PVP weapon?

Cheers.

Very good PvP weapon, The tracking and range is nice and its rare to see

Viable, but just as with every other Reaper Weapon the Scythe has a sweetspot at the blade. Unless you hit the sweetspot you do good amount of DMG, otherwise you will do half or even less the DMG you usually would. It takes some time to get used to, but otherwise fun weapon, especially the 2handed R2.

The best move on it is the r2/LT attack hit both in succession it deals anywhere from 1000-1600 damage.

If you can fight with it and feel good than its good.
Thankyou to all the answers so far! Just killed nashandra and traded in her soul. Dont meet the requirements just yet but will soon! Really hope its worth it.

Don't do it. Seriously; all scythes in this game are garbage for PvP. If you intention is to use it for PvE; then fine; but that weapon has so much wrong with it.

1) The sweet spot is very small; and must be utilized in order to do maximum damage.

2) the two handed R1 attacks will randomly 'bounce' as if hitting a wall for no reason at all.

3) the two handed R2 attack moves back during windup; doesn't combo well at high poise, and rarely hits it's mark.

4) all attacks can be parried.

5) the weight to damage ratio, along with the multiple stat requirements make this weapon incredibly demanding for such diverse requirements.

6) all of the attacks (save the awkward backstep) move so stubbornly forward, that you're just asking fora backstab.

That's just my OP from nearly 500 hours of straight PVP. Around 100 of them dedicated to scythes; they're all just trash in this current game unfortunatly.

I highly recommend you DONT waste a soul vessels on it.

If it's not viable, make it so. If you use it enough and have a little knowledge you should be able to get it to work, from a PvP standpoint. As for PvE, everything works. That's just my opinion, anyway.

It's really that bad huh? Well yeah i know scythes are ♥♥♥♥ in general but apparently the scythe of want is the best out off all of them, but meh, ive got 3 untouched soul vessels, might as well give it a shot.

Thanks for the answer.

If that's the case, I might try this baby again. I liked the SoW (not the staff) but hated everytime it bounced off the ground trying to attack enemies. >.<

Also, Jonathan Fist is slightly wrong about the PVP part. If you're good with it, you can beat people with it.

DO NOT TRY IT, lol just tested this weapon, it is TERRIBLE. the move set is awesome but its not worth it, at +3 already and it 2 shots one of those shadow dog things. Cant infuse it, its heavy and the 2 handed strong attack takes a lot of stamina. Very dissapointed :/

and i have 30 faith becuase of the dark scailing.

That's great about the bounce attack being fixed; makes it slightly more viable.

I respect your opinion vagrant, I really do. But I guarantee you if you pvp against
Really good player with it, you'll lose 90% of the time. It's just not good enough to justify its stat requirements, IMO.

Against the average invader it'll probably wreck shop; I'm just looking at it from as competitive an angle as possible.

I can't really argue here, as I dislike the new scythe movesets. However, for the few people I fought that used it(or any reaper), they used it very well.

In the end, it's just really an edgy-looking weapon and isn't really good in long term investment. Bow of Want however....

i rarely get backstabbed, i bet you just keep pressing the r1 till you do tho.

Firstly Necro bump;

Also I made this comment when the SoW was incredibly under powered. Things have changed since then. Grow up.

Move onto a better game like Bloodborne kid. DS2 was soooooo last year.
