What new lore connections does the DLC provide?
I want to test something out. I've never seen any deep or thoughtful discussions in the forum unless ppl were arguing over something. The again, I am kinda new to the forum too so that might be a thing. Anyway:

As far a lore is concerned~ soemthing a YouTuber said concerning the DLC got me thinking that the incident in Dragon Sanctum had an indirect effect on both Earthen Peak and Black Gulch. I see the connection with Black Gultch, but Earthen Peak/ Harvest valley seems like a stretch.

Anyone have theories that makes this make any sense in some way? Also, if not direcly related to this specific incident - what information in the DLC brings new light to lore in the vanilla game that you noticed? Go! :3

Theres a tie in to Nashandra. On of the DLC bosses is born from a fragment of Manus from the Artorias DLC in DaS1. She too had something to do with the King in the DLC.

Which makes me question the Emerald Herald. Why does she want the player to take the throne just like Nashandra and Elana (DLC)?
Could she be born of Manus?

Wow! That's crazy! Not even thinking about it until just now, I totally trust the Emerald Herald. I would feel like a fool if she was just using me and was just another Nashandra. I would totally be able to see how Vendrick was tricked!

I've seen a couple threads discussing lore brefore.

It does give a better idea as to why the giants were there, and what the Rotten is other then a big hunk of flesh.

The statues found in the gutter and black gulch are the same as the ones found in the sanctum city, which appeared to be graves (sanctums knights that were paying respect still wandering there, and the band of graverobbers there.) which explains why the Rotten cares so much for them, it's a graveyard for everyone that died in the sanctum city.

As for the giants, they were probably prisoners from the Drangleic-Giant war that the drakebloods were using to attack the sanctum city.

The poison could have affected an underground water source which went to the valley but yeah it is a far stretch.Drangleic is pretty huge, and even though area transitions are short thing are quite apart.

The only lore connection to the main game are the Imperfect creatures which were created by Aldia and Yorgh ring which has a crest of Drangleic on it thus the drakebloods are from Drangleic.

Also the crowns are very important according to Vendrick so in the end we will see what they do.

There is the dialogue with Vendrick ofc which explains the whole world of dark souls and the main plot but I believe they put it there for the stupid people who have not realized it all on their own.

Well the thing used to access the DLC is exactly the same as the one at the start of the Shrine Of Winter. 3 severed serpent heads and similar stone tablets. 3 serpents, 3 crowns

Thats what I reckon the devs are going for. You kind of think the King is a bit gullible for falling for a trick such as that, not realising you're falling into the same trick yourself

Looks like she's not born of manus given that she says this --> "My journey is already complete.
My name is Shanalotte.
The dragon gave me this name, for I was born with none.
I was born of dragons, contrived by men."

I still think theres something shady about her. Something, I dont know, not quite right...

To get that dialogue you have to get Giant's Kinship...but I don't think that is why she says that. She says it because she knows you will come at Nashandra even if you die over and over and she knows you will get the throne...

Doesn't change the fact that it disproves her being born of manus, which is what I was pointing out.

Could be a lie though. It's not like Nashandra revealed what she was to Vendrick

It seems like more of a distraction then anything else considering what CTU said. Manus wasn't the only 'bad guy' in Dark Souls 1. There was also the agenda to link the fire coming from King Seeker Frampt and the False Godess Gwynever. She could be a deception coming from another source outside of being a fragment of Manus. Hmmm... but I do trust her tho so I'm not sure what I'm even sayng.

Shes's supposed to be the last firekeeper right. Kill her and the bonfires will extinguish. However, they do not
DaS1 if you kill a firekeeper, the bonfire they tend will go out

She's also not a firekeeper like people say she is. There's something up

No where in the game does it says she is a fire keeper. It does say the 3 old hags you meet in things betwixt are fire keepers.

Why don't the bonfires die out if you kill them then?
I'm sorry, but theres a lot of deception in this game with regards to identities and intentions

EDIT: Forgot about Navlaans dialogue

Navlaan says it.

Never did his questline nor freed him hell I don't even stop and talk to him. I'm not a fan of the magic system in dark souls.

Maybe because they aren't attached to any bonfires anymore? Did you forget how firekeepers worked from the last game? if you killed the spider one did all go out or just hers hmm?
