DARK SOULS™ II
Question about Iron Keep involving realism (Minor Spoilers)
Ok this is a bit of a silly thing to complain or to have a massive confusion about, but does anyone have any logical explanation of how the Iron Keep is a possible area to exist in the game? I mean, the area before, Earthern Peak is set on a windmill which is on a mountain. You then take an elevator UP to a large castle surrounded by Lava.

It would make sense if th elevator goes down but it goes up. In the bonfire menu, the area seriously does look like you are on a windmill on a cliff with nothing connected to it so how does the elevator go up?
Is there some mythical elevator which teleports or something or what?

Again, silly thing to complain about but I am interested in what other people think about this.

It is very simple.

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

It is lazy design, that's it. I'm not saying the game is bad or praising Dark Souls 1, but this is just lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ design and a big ♥♥♥♥ you in the face of the fans that loved the way the world was connected in DaS 1.
Yeah, unlike most of dark souls 1, dark souls 2 is loaded to high hell with condinuety erros. What about when you go around the corner into drangleic gates from the road under the bridge? You magcially change day to night an draining, and go 10 miles closer in 20 seconds lol. Or the aquaducts that lead from majula to heids tower of flame, where you go from a near mile off high cliffs to climbing down 2 flights of steps and up one spouting you into the ocean, only going about 300 paces. The game has no sense of spacing or preportional space. Infact, a lot of the areas can be bugged and load in at once, showing a lot of of the areas overlap. Dakr souls 1 kinda had an issue with it but no where near as bad. Look up dark souls 3d map.

Thank God I am not the only one who noticed this :D
I think we all agree that Dark Souls 1 was a much superior game in every single way.
The Dark Souls 1 map never felt fake though and never did I think "would that kind of level actually exist in real life?" Except maybe Ash Lake and the idea that Lordran is a kingdom on a giant tree
They should have made a transition with the hanging cages instead of the elevator.
Like, take a hanging cage from the top of earthen peak off into the distance...hanging cage arrives at iron keep.

No they should do a hanging cage but it would be a zipline, because Iron Keep is supposed to be east of Earthen Peak.
That's DS2's lazy design. If you want to have a good laugh, after taking the boat in No man's wharf and getting to the bastille, look in the sky: you're in for a treat.

You talking about that Skydome glitch where the sky is just a big blue dome? That is a glitch normally it is a black sky with a moon and a few clouds.
But still, reasons like this is why I am REALLY looking forward to Bloodborne

I never got this glitch and actually did not know it was a thing. I was staying nearer of the level design (even if not really about it)... you can see the bastille's design in the sky after taking the boat. There's no skybox. Or at least, the skybox is glitchy.

Otherwise, I think that the Bastille itself has a nice design. I wanted to check it the other day, so I went out of bounds... it would have been really cool if its part communicated more, if you could go to one place through a jump or a shortcut, not only through doors.

such terrible world design issues happen when devs try to convey the large spaces and areas of a kingdom with elevators, basically.
Really? You were talking about the normal skydome... ._.
Like I said, I am glad we all agree that Dark Souls 2 has crap level design and the first is much superior in every single way :D
Its simple, there is long sierra behind windmill, so on elevator you get to iron keep, which is set in these mountains/volcanoes

I already explained in my other post how and why the iron kingdom is floating.
Ok fine that makes sense however the game doesn't really make that clear...
