Can't get online (Solved)
For about the past month I havent been able to get my copy of Dark Souls 2 to connect to the game server. I've contacted from several times but I still have not gotten a reply. Any idea what could be stopping my connection to the DS2 server?

Have you tried messing around with your firewall or some settings in your router?

What Antivirus/firewall, router/modem, and ISP do you have running?

Thanks for the replies. I've tried changing my firewall settings on both the local computer and the router. Taking them from medium levels to fully disabled with no difference in the ability to conect to Froms servers. I'm using just the basic Windows 7 firewall and the firewall in the Arris router/modem that Comcast gives you. Current settings for my firewalls are set to medium level, and I've double checked that Steam is allowed through both incoming and outgoing.

Hmm. You could doublecheck to see the windows firewall also has a rule for Darksouls II, just in case it doesn't inherit the steam settings for whatever reason.
I'm guessing you get the "Dark Souls service is not available starting in offline mode" message each time you start the game up?

Don't just sit around and wait for answers... do something
DS2 works out of the Box with windows default settings and activated FW so check your damn router or ISP.

So for some reason my router/modem was seeing the DS2 connection as a p2p connection and was blocking it. Using the custom firewall rule I was able to allow these connections and now I can connect without a problem. I hope this helps some of you.

So after all "check your damn router" was a legitimately helpful post.

This explains a lot actually, such as why ISPs would be blocking it. If its client/server behavior is seen as P2P... hmm. This could also be the cause of lag/latency hits folks take, as many ISPs "throttle back" clients that have that sort of net traffic.
This is probably something to mention to FROM/BandaiUSA, on the off chance they aren't aware of the issue.

They're not going to change how players connect to each other... looking at my router's firewall settings, I only have the option to disable it or enable it, so I don't really know how to add exceptions... but you could try to disable it and install another firewall on your pc.
Or better yet, if you have a friend that knows about these things ask him, lol.
