Lore Question: Why did you jump in?
I know Dark Souls 2 has the whole "You forget why you do anything" thing going on; but I've honestly been wondering. Why do you jump into the tornado in the opening cinematic? Is Drangleic _IN_ that tornado? Is it a whole different world outside of it?

According to the old hags, all undead are attracted to the equivalent of that Tornado. As in, you jump in there out of instinct.

idk there's a lot of weird crap in these games so a tornado that warps you to an undead world doesnt seem unbelievable to me

Really? Guess I didn't pay enough attention to that part then. So is the tornado a portal to Drangleic?
No, it's a portal to the fire keeper place.
Which is a portal to a ton of places, including Drangleic.

Including Drangleic, got it. Thank you!

It's not the sort of portal that takes you to some other place, it takes you back in time. The place in the opening cinematic is effectively the future (with regards to Drangleic); whereas the Things Betwixt is neither past, present nor future.

PS - It's a whirlpool, not a tornado.

I didn't really understand this travelling from the future to the past thing...

Considering the fan-theory that you might be traveling back/forth in time to get to the firekeepers place, maybe you never should've forgotten tha ak47 ;)

The whole time travel idea comes from the part in the intro where you see an intact reflection of the buildings around the lake: http://youtu.be/pXY1MzMM06c?t=2m48s

The whole "Time doesn't flow naturally here" theme in DS2 exists for a reason. Things Inbetwixt especially is a time tangled location that doesn't really exist here or there, and isn't past, present or future. It's just inbetween everything. That's why it's one of my most favourite locations despite the fact that it is very small.

Also, automatic weapons have probably not been invented yet, since dentistry hasn't been, either.
Lies, all lies I say :)

Grandma forgot to say "bearer of the curse", then there is automatic crossbows in the past, so I really did forget to pick up my ak47 from grandma house.

Edit: Plus grandma doesn't have any messages nearby "amazing cheat ahead"
