Elana, the Squalid Queen

I need to vent some steam here (no pun intended).

This boss has to be the most unfair boss fight in the entire game. It is pretty much Nashandra except From decided to give her more ♥♥♥♥ magic attacks and the ability to summon enemies. I can barely do any damage to her for 2 reasons:
1. I use Hexes and she has very high dark defense (along with high fire and lightning defense).
2. She keeps casting spells.

The most damage I do to Elana is at the start of the fight when she summons her weapon. After that I have to back away to avoid getting hit. I can close on her to land one or two more hits while she is concentrating on the NPC summon but she uses that AoE attack and I'm forced to back off again. Then she summons Velstadt.... Out of all the times I fought her today, her first summon was nearly always Velstadt. The NPC summon then goes down and I'm left to fight both Velstadt and Elana by myself.

At this point, I have a 0% success rate. When I try to attack Elana after drawing Velstadt to the other side of the arena, she teleports..... right behind me and swings at the exact same time Velstadt does. If I manage to dodge both of these attacks I'm punished with Velstadt coming after me while Elana casts Flame Swathe and one of those dark orb attacks and I have to dodge 3 attacks at once.... And I die there with Velstadt at around 2/3 health left and Elana with almost full.

I nominate this boss for the Most Unfair Boss in the Game award.

- I'm playing on the Xbox version of the game in offline mode with only one NPC summon available.

Jesus, that boss was killed on 1 try and i was out of estus lol, they should make something stronger in next dlc.

I can only summon Steelheart Ellie because Benhart is somewhere and I'm playing in offline mode because I'm on the Xbox....

Didn't have all this trouble... don't rely too much on benhart and the other one, summon some other player, maybe I can help if you're in NG+ and beyond.

Ancient Dragon gets my vote.

How to beat Elana:
- Don't use NPC summons; every summon increases the health of the boss.
- Don't use Hexes if those don't do any damage. Your fire bonus isat least as high as your dark bonus, so you might as well burn her down with pyromancies.
- If you keep enough distance, she will usually spam her Flame Swath, which is relatively easy to dodge (even if Velstadt is around).

IMO, Elana is Nashandra "done right" (in terms of boss design).

I actually liked it a lot. I'd say it could possibly be one of my favorite bosses in the game behind Darklurker. If you want unfair, then go fight the gank squad boss.
