No.
It doesn't seem like you need the DLC.

But then again, I could be wrong. But from the information that I can gather from searching this forum, you don't them, and the DLC is completely optional.

In each one are some spells/miracles/hexes/pyromancies so i think you need those to complete master of sorcery etc

if you have the dlc you need do more "quest" for get all achvimnts.... if you dont have teh dlc you can get all achvimnts

You can get all covenant spells offline
-Bell keepers: Go to Belfry Sol and farm Mad Warrior red phantom he counts as invader so u can get reward from crazy guy (You need to be in Bell covenant, no bonfire astetic needed + i recommend to wear Red String ring for better chance to Red apper)
-Brotherhood of blood and Way of Blue: Chancellor Wellager will sell reward spells from these covenants on NG++ must be legit so no bonfire astetic
-Warriors of Sunlight: Sunlight medals can be farmed from falconers that will apper at beggining of the game in Things Betwixt in NG+ (You can use bonefire astetic to make it work), farming them is possible by enering Covenant of Champions so they keep respawning endlessly and don't forget item discovery gear like symbol of avarice or gold serpent ring
-Pilgrims of the Dark: This covenant doesn't require being online anyway, all you need to do is complete 3 Dark Chasms and kill Darklurker boss talk to old guy on chair and give boss soul to Straid
And finnaly DLC time
-Crown of the Sunken King: two hexes Promised Walk of Peace and Dark Greatsword, one sorcery Focus Souls and one miracle Denial
-Crown of the Ivory King: one hex Dark Dance,one sorcery Soul Flash, one miracle Splintering Lightning Spear
-Crown of the Old Iron King:one hex Recollection and three pyromancies Outcry, Dance of Fire and Fire Snake

According to the ‘fextralife’ wiki the DLC spells do not count towards the achievements (Master of… Sorcery/Miracles/Pyromancy/Hexes) in this version of the game.

I'm currently giving it a shot, but it'll be some time before I can confirm it. I’m just about ready to wrap up NG, but because the servers are down the biggest problem is that you need to get a good way into NG++ for 100%, to buy the last few spells, as mentioned by Blaise.

Edit: I can now also confirm this. The DLC spells are not needed for this version of the game.

that mad warriro have not spawn for me not even 1 time... not even first time I enter it...
I have try spawn him and use that bell ring but can try with that red string ring too tomorrow

alright, thanks. i'm pretty sure when i got all achievements for DS2: SOFTS it required some of the DLC so i was just wondering if it were the same here.

I can confirm that you do NOT need the DLC spells or items to get all achievements for vanilla DS2. However, you do need all of them for Scholar of the First Sin edition, in which the DLC is already preloaded into the game.

I try farm Sunlight medals from falconers and have use 1 bonfire asetic. I get 5 medals on 2 rounds. Need use bonfire asetic again. If im joined Covenant of Champions I dont need use bonfire asetic ?

yes. if you join the covenant the enemies will keep respawning infinitely
