Pyromancy scales with INT+FTH if you want to get prepared. I like petrified something as a starting gift. You give it to the crows in things betwixt for a random high tier item.
idk how i ended up here i did buy the remaster
It really sucks that they didn't include a pyromancer starter class so here's everything you need to know on how to get a pyro build rolling. Cleric or Sorcerer would probably be the best starter class for a pyro build because one has a decent amount of faith and the other has a decent amount of int. To get quick souls you can try and cheese Dragonrider (the first boss of Heide's Tower of Flame) by causing him to walk off the narrow platform you start at when you enter the boss room (i'll post a vid).
After this you have two options, go to No Man's Wharf and try to beat Flexile Sentry at a somewhat low level because after you beat him there's a room with a ladder and up that ladder is a metal chest with the regular pyro flame and the spell Fireball.
The other option is to use those souls you got from the Dragonrider (including his soul and any other souls you looted) and buy the Cat Ring (which reduces fall damage) from the cat npc in Majula. Then use any leftover souls to level up your hp a bunch. Why do that? Because you need to go down the majula well afterwards and try and make it to The Gutter (aka Blighttown 2.0). You need to cat ring and at least around 1200 hp to survive each fall to the platforms below. Down there in Blighttown 2.0, you'll find a Dark Pyromancy Flame. It's called a dark pyro flame because it scales with hollowing. You DO NOT want to upgrade this. This is just a temporary pyro flame so you can use pyromancy early on untl you get the pyro flame in that metal chest after Flexile Sentry. Also down there at the very end of the level is a Fragrant Branch of Yore. Why do you need that? Because near Majula there is an npc who is petrified. She's Rosabeth of Melfia, your pyromancy trainer and you have to save her by unpetrifying her with that Fragrant Branch of Yore. After you give her clothing she will move to Majula. She sells 3 Fire Seeds (which is what you use to upgrade your pyro flame) and all the basic pyromancies. There are poison goblin enemies in that room though so you should kill all of them before you free her. Some of them are in locked rooms above you that you can't reach but if you can break the door down of the upper left room and hit the goblin in there with an arrow all of them will start them ambush early which will save you a lot of trouble because you can fight them outside. I know that seems like a lot of hassle but it's worth it tbh. Also behind that door (which you open with a lever is a basilisk, aka curse frog). Make sure it doesn't spray it's petrifying mist near Rosabeth because it can kill her iirc. I mean that's how she got petrified in the first place but she had plot armor so it didn't kill her :P.
There's just one more thing... if you kill Rosabeth she will drop a fire seed. You're probably thinking "Well how the hell will I upgrade my pyro flame then?!". There's another npc who can upgrade your pyro flame who you will meet in No Man's Wharf. He's a sorcerer and you need at least 8 intelligence to be able to talk to him and access his store. After you exhaust his dialogue he'll move to Majula and he will upgrade your pyro flame for you.
