ME2 (2010) is the vanilla game as it was on release and requires external downloads to add DLC, ME2 (2010) Edition includes all DLC and requires the EA App.
Should I install this too? I mean I plan to play the game eventually sometime but which one? It's the same? If I can save space it'll be better.
A classic mistake when the person who had register the game's name on Steam typed most likely the name that was given in some email without thinking much about it.
Remember that a majority of EA's games on Steam are NOT put there by the original devs/team, but by a "dedicated" pencil pusher hired by EA. In many cases, it's done through an exchange of emails and file access, hence if that pencil pusher gets an email telling him to the "Mass Effect 2 (2010) Edition" and it included the files for the store page, you can be certain that he/she will not ask back if the name really is it or not and will just publish the game as-is.
In fact, it's more risky for those people to "assume" anything than to just do it as if the mistake does get noticed, they can just point out at the email they received as the cause. (On the other hand, if they assume the name is wrong and correct it and the correction has a mistake, they are responsible.)
You might think that "Well, someone might notice it when they get to play it, right?", but that's the thing. The ones at EA who might be able to do something about it and who do play EA games does so on the EA app (or, previously, EA's Origin) because they get free keys for THAT platform and NOT for the Steam.
You can bypass the EA app easily enough.
Please provide a detailed guide or link to one if possible. Thank you in advance.
