Can You Have Both TSW 4 and 5 Installed At The Same Time?

I'm new to TSW. I started out by buying TSW4 a few months ago. Can I install TSW5 side by side with TSW4 or does TRW5 essentially "upgrade" my TSW4 installation to TSW5? I'm finding it a bit confusing understanding how all the different elements (trains, routes, rolling stock, etc) work together with previous versions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes you can have both installed.

Grab the free starter pack, import your profile and progress, all your TSW 4 DLC will work in TSW 5. After that there is no reason to keep TSW 4 installed, because sooner or later there will be no more patches or fixes.

TSW4 and TSW5 are different games, but you get a free TSW5 compatible copy for each DLC you owned in TSW4 at the same platform (e.g. steam). You will need to make sure to copy you gameprogress to the new version. In principle this is supported, but you can do it manually as well. have a look here .../Documents/My Games copy everything in the TSW4 folder tot the TSW5 folder. I also recommend to make backups of the My Games folder regularly.

Don't do this, some parameters could have changed and you may have faulty variables then.

Just install TSW 5 without any DLC (to reduce waiting times), start, import the profile (customised controls are also imported then) and close. Then you can uninstall TSW 4 completely and install the addons for TSW 5 you want.

I have TSW3 and 4 installed and have done for years. The point is I have content that is TSW3 only and others that are TSW3 and 4 compatible.
Your content is playable on all of them.
I have 43 DLC that is TSW5 compatible. The content is separate from the base game.
If you uninstalled TSW4, and installed TSW5, the content is already purchased to your account and just installs as per normal.

All you have to do is go to the TSW5 store page and look at all the DLC and you will see your content with a blue bar indicating already purchased and compatible.
