class 170 hill start
any advice on how to stop unit rolling back before power kicks in???

Hold apply brake key/button/trigger.

the best tutorial is with the US freight locos in the training center, thats if you have any of them. One of the first and best is with "see image" It is very well done, IMHO this goes back to TSW2/3, and this way of getting any train moving works on all that have this type of brake setup. Now if you don't have any US freight trains. I did do a video, a while ago, it also goes over an open PCS "emergency braking recovery" but too many newer DLCs have been made much easier to recover from just that.

VCE gave the correct answer.

The Class 170 has a "Hill Start Button" on the power controller., which is mapped to your normal "brake apply" key.

So press this while releasing the brakes and the brake cylinder pressure will be held until you release the key.
