Unreal Engine Crash
Played the game yesterday and all fine. Tried today and keep getting an unreal engine crash and the game won't start. Any ideas folks please?

Well... here it is July 14th, 2024 (and no answers for the previous two posters) and more and more of the services I used to run just fine are now experiencing Unreal Engine 4 crashes. I have gotten some new additions and among them I cannot run anything (no tutorial, no timetable, no scenario) of the East Coast Main Line: Peterborough - Doncaster route I purchased in last Spring's sale! (I can't get a refund since I didn't have a chance to run the route until recently.) Really disappointing. But it seems like more and more the favorites which worked perfectly, without issue are now crashing. It seems the more I spend, the less I can run. I just got the Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe route and the very first introduction to the line tutorial gave me an Unreal Engine 4 crash! I was able to run the 8F tutorial, so I just don't know what is going on. I will have to check some of the other Spirit of Steam services, If they don't run then I will request a refund. These train sims mean a lot to me and it is so infuriating to not be able to enjoy what I pay for.

Have you installed any mods or have you tweaked the engine.ini? If yes, then remove the mods and restore the default engine.ini. Mods and other tweaks are among the most common reason for crashes. Otherwise, check that your drivers and OS are up to date. If all that fails, have Steam verify your installation in case some files have become corrupted (that can sometimes happen when Steam updates your game).

Thanks for your reply, Echo Kilo. I have never installed a single mod and I have never mucked around with the engine.ini. All of my drivers and operating system (Windows 11) are up to date and I have verified the files for TSW4 via steam dozens of times... each time with the result that all 501 files were verified. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times and have also done it singly by uninstalling the offending routes and reinstalling them one at a time with the exact same result - an Unreal Engine 4 crash. So, as you can see, I have tried everything I have read online and I'm just about ready to finally call it quits, but since DTG as a pretty wide control of modern train sims, there are few other options that I have. Thanks for replying... I really do appreciate it! Stay happy, my friend.

Hey there, Moin! You know, I had tried that back when I was first having problems with certain scenarios but when I tried it, TSW4 wouldn't even start. So, that wasn't the answer... but something told me to say, what the hay... I'll try it again. Well, bless you my friend because it worked!! I cannot believe that my first experience with the -DX12 switch not working jaded me into not trying it again. Thank you, very very much, Moin my friend! I got all the services back once more! Oh, and your English is just fine! Once again, thank you for prodding me into trying that DX12 trick once more. You are my hero! Take care of yourself, mate!! You sure made my day! :choo::chooo::choooo:
