When TSW came out, they thought they would not have to create LODs, people would buy better hardware to play it, facing a massive backlash.
Focus will let DTG alone, as long as the cash comes in.
Its also likely that its caching shaders on a the first play of a route so it may improve the second time you go through the same area.
The usual first time route driving, caching shaders, only causes some fps drops to 60.
After that's done, between 120 and 165 fps on Ultra/4k+150%. Rig's still bored.
So i might even try +200%
Specs: i9 13900KF, 32GB DDR5-6000, RTX 4090, NVMe PCIx 4.0
Simple Advise: find your bottlenecks before complaining about bad optimisations...
We shall see if you are correct or if your system is crap, because i'm pretty sure my 4090 13900k with 64gbs of ddr5 ram will smoke this game.
Alternatively google for TSW 4 Lighting & Graphic Enhancement - its a great automated way for route to route ini tweaks with different presets.
That said your gpu is not strong enough to for 4k in this game with decent graphics!
45 fps in 1080p seems extremely low though but could be if you start at a bad performing spot - there are a few across the routes.
can happen with nvidia too
also windows can act up
one time i could not run any dx12 game at all
that was before an big windows 11 update
and that update suddenly fixed it
and now everything runs fine again
strange things can happen
story like but all my other games run fine
does not always say something
maybe it counts if you are playing for over more then 500 different games
with all the numerous hardware setups and such
i7 3770K, GTX 970 - drops down to 30fps on some routes
R5 3600, GTX 1660 - drops down to 30fps on some routes
R7 5800X, RTX 3060 Ti - drops down to 30fps on some routes
R7 5800X, RTX 4080 S - drops down to 30fps on some routes
Plus constant stutters except for a few routes.
This is how I update my drivers When there is an absolute need or I just want to or to see if the updates help or not. I have been doing GPU driver updates like this going back to the days when it was ATI. Yes, I do believe all the junk Nvidia installs and maybe even AMD when doing a driver install and update impacts the system as well as how the game could be affected.
