"If you close the door"

Stuck just after the chess puzzle. When i got upstairs the panel is free to press without the all red panel i saw in other screenshot. Instead I have "if you close the door" as hint.
Is it normal or what? Is not clear how to do

Imagine that the door (lid) of the puzzle is closed. You can't close the door, but you can get the answer from the closed look.

Ok, at least put a "reset" button on that puzzle. If you start pressing random buttons without looking at the default lights you are stuck forever.

We didn't create a reset button because the answer to the puzzle is not affected by the initial shape.

ok, i didn't get it then... the previous one was better imho. Easy to understand and a bit more clever to resolve.
