Dust: An Elysian Tail

Dust: An Elysian Tail

Animated Movie, maybe?
I've read somewhere online *coughcoughwikipediacoughcough* That Dean Dodril (aka Noogy) was actualy working on making an independant film of this game before turning it into one.

Judging from the artwork the cutscenes are in, I wouldn't argue if the film would be finished.

Every one else agrees, right?

This game was originally meant for Dean to get more money for the movie.

If you haven't seen already, here's[\url]

The movie is something I'll continue to work on, but right now I'm focused on game development. While I was happy with the final cutscenes in Dust:AET, they were nowhere near the quality of my feature film, due to time contraints. Of course, I spent over 8 years on the film vs. a couple months on cutscenes. I need to hire like, ten of myself.
I think you can pump out a lot more interesting content in the video game medium than you can with animated movies, especially the hand drawn variant. Hand drawn animation is basically dead, it costs too much to do and it has lost its appeal. Its only draw now is as a Disney marketing gimmick. I guess anime studios still do it to an extent.

But I mean, with video games, you can render like five hundred animations and throw them all into a twenty hour experience that evokes a much larger emotional reaction and sense of investment. So why not just let the CGI studios do their thing and focus on this unique new style of interactive 2D artistry?

Just my two cents.

Hand-Drawn stuff is stil really epic, if done right. Judging from Dean's work in the cutscenes, I'll give him every of my cash to see it.
