nerf the final boss.
general gaius is WAY too hard. look, i enjoy challenging bosses, but general gaius iis close to impossible, even when im prepared to the fullest, he still kicks my ass, why?
well first of all, he has four phases, FOUR freakin' phases, none of which give you time to heal, secondly, all the bll crap wit the planes and additonal soldiers doesn't help.
and finally, he CHEATS. he doesn't go into the lava, he turns invinsible for a couple seconds giving him time to hit you around, and when he jumps, he has freaking 60,000 health per phase, and his attacks are way too powerfull.
the point of a game is to be challenging, i can accept that. but for god's sake, make it possible to beat gaius, i don't want to change my difficulty to casual cause i do want a challenge, but at the same time, your makng it way too hard.
nerf gaius.

I've played thru the game on both normal and hardcore, and I''ve had no problem at all beating him. What exactly are you finding hard about him?

the problem is that he keeps blocking my attacks randomly and then hitting me with those stupid electric ball things he has. and all the other stuff i mentioned.

He's pretty easy if you just spam magic.

my problem with THAT, is that it takes too long. his defense is so high it would take an hour just to get through the whole thing with just magic, i've tried it, it's still hard.

I beat him with melee and a mix of magic on Tough. Took me a few tries, since I messed up a few times and fell into the lava and got murdered by his orb things.

Are you serious? Nerf him? I was highly disappointed with the fight personally. And I'm not saying "I'm just that good". I had to deliberately draw out the battle to have fun. Although that might have been why I found him easy. Parry him to keep your energy full and never use more than half your energy to attack with magic, if any at all. The rest of your energy should be reserved for dodging. It may take a while but get short hits and dodge when he attacks.

If you avoid magic altogether he's much more of a challenge. Using the Ugly Pendant either helps draw things out for a challenging batle or ends you very quickly, depending on how many health items you have. He certainly won't need any.

I don't remember any challenge at all in this game, on normal or hardcore... It was just a fun little hack-and-slash. I guess the only advice I can give is this: Parrying is your friend.

You should check out the boss gauntlet at the end of Cave Story.

Are you kidding? i beat him on tough and while i acknowledge the fact he was pretty tough he certainly doesn't need to be nerfed AT ALL.

Just level up, stock up on plenty of healing items and you'll get there eventually. Also crafting armours, rings and pendants is the way to go too :fhappy:

Well then it sounds like you need a bit more practice when it comes to dodging attacks so i would suggest you try that.

I finished this game right now, and General Gaius wasn't hard at all... I died once, but I managed to defeat him in my second try. And I'm playing it on Tough. If you can't beat him, go level up somewhere and buy a lot of foods.
