How Is This Easy?
I got to the first golem-like "boss monsters" when it's storming before reaching the first town. And I kept dying as soon as they got around to hitting me, even when I put the game on Easy difficulty and auto-heal on. And yet everyone here says the game is easy. How? Is my game glitched to replace "Easy" with "Hard", or is it really supposed to take long as I keep dodging every attack and deal damage when I can?

If you need to take care of the big enemies to block at the last second like the game tells you to..

That boss fight is designed to teach you how to parry. I beat it on Tough after several tries. It is all about timing. Hit X right when a golem is about to hit you. The golem is stunned and can be killed. Good luck!

Also Auto-Heal just makes it so you use food when you pick it up unless you are at max health. You still have to use healing items in your inventory like normal.

Yeah, just push and hold attack as he's (or any enemy) is attacking you. It's quite generous with the timing.

I think I just jumped around a lot and avoided their attacks. They're pretty slow.

the hit registration when the golems stomp is screwed, the attack actually lands when the foot is at its highest point, not when it stomps, so you need to parry then

You have a dodge move with Q or E I believe. Use those as it will help a lot.

It is pretty easy even on Hardcore, and I rarely even play hack & slash games...

Maybe you've reached a scripted death point? Those are a pain.

Get used to the controles first. I know that parrying takes a little practice. It did for me. Avoding enemy attacks with the Q and E dodge can come in handy too. With practice, you will soon win.

Okay, I have to admit: I haven't parried much, and the one moment when that accidentally happened seemed to shift the battle in my favor. It's just odd that such monsters take so many hits and have to be parried.

Yeah. There are a handfull of enemies that require parrying to defeat. Parrying comes in handy with a couple of bosses as well. Combine this with a few Q or E dodges, and you will avoid much damage.

Developing your own playstyle comes with practice. Have fun!

While parrying is an especially suitable solution for this fight, it's far from necessary. The Trolks that you'll encounter later in the underground caverns (big guys with large clubs and stone shields) are the first real parry tests you'll get in this game. The giants are more of a combo meter and navigation test, even though parrying would make short work of them.

The key to the giants if you're not parrying them for the near insta-win is your use of aerial dust storm coupled with management of your stamina bar. Their moves are slow, easily baited, and highly telegraphed. If you bait an attack, you will evade it easily with aerial dust storm if you plow through to the other side of the enemy. Combine this with Fidget's magic and you will both rack up a high combo and not get hit once.

I thought that was just one part where everyone died because they hadn't taught you to properly use parry (Ahrah gives you kind of a bad description as to how to parry), nor do they give you adequate time to train for it. Ended up just reloading at the previous save point a couple times.

All about that parry.
On hardcore, it's parry or death, with any creature *-*

personally i found this game to be quite easy on my first playthrough on Tough setting but then i am very well versed in many video game playstyles, will be playing it again on Hardcore hoping it will hand my ass to me :fhappy:
