Steam Deck white screen / black screen
Hi, I have a problem with my Steam Deck and this game. This game starts with a black screen (the first times it was a white screen). I've played this game before on my gaming pc at 1440p. The Steam Deck doesn't support resolutions higher than 800p. And this is what caused it.

While the video output was just black (or just white before), I could hear the intros, the idle sounds in the menu and even the menu reaction sounds. This way, I was able to reproduce setting my resolution ingame by pressing exactly what I did on pc simultaneously.
Btw it's:
1. 1x "A" (you should hear a sound, otherwise wait and press again)
2. 1x down (there should already be a sound. if not, you have to go back to step 1.)
3. 1x "A"
4. 2x down
5. a few times to the left (just press left about 10 times)
6. 2x up
7. 1x "A"

Except for step 6, you should always hear a sound reacting to your input. Step 7 should finally show the screen.

First of all, I hope some of you who has trouble with the game on Steam Deck finds this instructions helpful and get to play this fantastic game.
Second of all, the settings in "home/deck/.local/share/DustAET/Save Files/ Player1/Settings.sav" only contains one (non-ascii) line for me, so there was no way for me to change it outside of the game.
@devs Is there already a command line option to change the resolution via Steam launch parameters or could you possibly add them? Or could there even be a way to give a game a default config for the Steam Deck on the first launch on the device? This could help players that aren't willing to go through such a workaround like I did to still play the game on Steam Deck.^^

TLDR .... load the game up on windows Change resolution to 1024x768 and then play lvl 1 for a min then leave the game wait for it to sync to cloud, then delete it on steam deck and load it up and BOOM done.

For anyone struggling with this - there's a missing step - after step 4. 2x down, you have to hit A again, THEN do step 5, moving to the left a bunch.

You have to manually set the game to 720p which can be done either by going to the games Properties > General > Game Resolution, or going to another computer to do this.
this hasnt worked for me, I cant even get it to boot any more. Shame, the brief bit I played seemed good

If you can't even boot it anymore, maybe try a different proton version?

Thank you for posting the guide for changing resolution in-game. Properties > General > Game Resolution didn't work for me.
Thank you for the fix!
