Hexen: Beyond Heretic

Hexen: Beyond Heretic

Do we want a new Hexen game?
considering that Raven Software is owned by Activision, and the fact that the publisher's flagship FPS has definitely influenced non-Call of Duty shooters owned by Activision, do we really want a reboot of the franchise?

Yeah okay.
I'm still not a fan of the spinny chaingun-ish weapon.
But this game is now on my must-buy list.

lol ok. btw there was a similar weapon in Heretic. Anyway it's on mine as well

I mean, yeah, the mace of doom spins, but it doesn't look like a chaingun. It looks like a mace with a spinny head.

Still, you have a fair point.
:) I understand!
Hopefully we ll can have another taste of this soon
We definitely need a HeXen reboot. Nobody quite did skulls and evil decay quite the same way as the original Raven team - it made you want to take up Goth and Wicca. But the establishment aren't going to do it; it'll be up to us indie developers. It would have to be done Doom 3 style.

In the same way that we take the tylium from the Cylons, we would take HeXen from Activision. We could set up distribution out of Africa, like the Pirate Bay. Activision's legal team could hit nothing but air, and Korax would snap their spines if they tried.

Who's with me?

No, we do not. We live in the age of the false "reboots", when time after time those 'reboot' attempts give just another '* In Name Only'. Let the dead rest.
The only hope is for the side project of the third-party developers that would catch rather on the essence of the former games than on the famous franchise name.

why does a topic from 2013 refuse to die?

Probably because people want a new Hexen game whilst conveniently forgetting that Raven Software sold their souls. As i mentioned earlier, the main antagonist will be a magic-wielding Russian terrorist group stealing the Serpent Riders name, Ettins and Chaos Serpents will only appear in QTEs (unless the former is hip-firing a DShK HMG), Gargoyles will most likely only appear in turret sections and the three heroes will inevitably have some form of real world firearm ("Mage" equivalent would most likely have a Beretta 92/FS).

3 heroes for those who bought dlc's. 1 for the rest.
I just want to add 9 year necromancy to this. Holy s*** this game takes me back to my sweet sweet Pentium 90. THOSE WERE THE DAYS BOYS!
