its not like you couldnt just add new library definitions in the quake engine and "beef" it up to allow for more "modern' 'calls". if you can do that you can re render at higher resoltion and draw more complex objects. im surprised no one has even bothered to just hexen 2; hexen.
Since in these long years of waiting we are not seeing any decent inspired-game or a sequel/reboot, except from Dark Messiah that I loved so much (Hexen edge of chaos mod is on hold, Hellraid is on hold, Vermintide was fine but not my ideal type of game) I just can only suggest to have a look at this! seems promising.

Looks good! Though I'm not a fan of the chaingun-like weapon since... well it resembles an actual chaingun for some reason.
sorry, but so far it smells of rushed indie product.
Looks better than some non-rushed non-indie products though.
ok. don't play it :)
Aside from the classic enemies being relegated to QTEs and stationary turret sections, this might actually be something that gets me to play a modern military FPS in the first place.
Just not as a Hexen game.
they used to have these 2 faces from the start. see "take no prisoners" or "magestayer", totally casual and arcade-ish experience. although both games had unique atmosphere...
Fresh new trailer, last one was of an outdated build

Yeah okay.
I'm still not a fan of the spinny chaingun-ish weapon.
But this game is now on my must-buy list.
lol ok. btw there was a similar weapon in Heretic. Anyway it's on mine as well
