You need GZDOOM
Options to set to make the Mod work properly:
- Enable Precache GL textures
- Sector Lights: Vanilla
EDIT: Updated with bugfix 0.91
https://youtu.be/IXosmbbl6v0
For GZDOOM, the 1.0 is finished but DaXx plan to continue to work on it later for some little improvements and stuff, and its moddable.
Xdeath animations are added.

Title on the page is not the right one but the files is the one you need.
I urge any Hexen fan to try it.
Quick instructions:
- download latest gzdoom and unpack in a folder
- copy HEXEN.WAD in that folder
- download and unpack the mod in that folder
- read the README. Enabling the caching of textures in gzdoom is mandatory for the game to not stutter and be unplayable
- start the mod with the .BAT
