How to play online?

Ive downloaded ZDoom to improve my hexen graphical and gameplay experience, ive also heard that with ZDoom, it is possible to play online, i am however unable to find a way using the game's interface, do i need an external program to join the multiplayer?

Im not sure howd you play online with ZDoom, but you can use Zandronum to play online, its much easier, specially if you use Doom Explorer, however, as far as i know, there is no active servers of Hexen or Heretic, so you'll have to organize with someone else to play Hexen.
