How do I join the Tetrobot and Co. Steam group to get the achievement called "Psychobot’s fanclub"?

Group joined. Is there a specific amount of time that you must wait before the achievement unlocks?

Just join the group and start the game again. It should unlock, albeit without the pop-up notification.

It was the rebooting that I missed. The game was running while I joined the group. :)

There's a button to join the group inside the game itself, and it takes you right to the group page. The achievement unlocks immediately without having to restart the game or anything like that.
