Ah thanks, I missed this.
32gb isn't really a lot anymore. They aren't just considering poor optimization (hence testing), they also have to account for windows and other running apps.
Well for testing, that means out of all gamers, only 13% of people actually have the ram to beta test this... so yah lol
Edit, my bad based on steam for march 2023, it's 22.41%, still cutting out a lot of people, good luck finding what works or doesn't when 75% of people just can't run it at all.
you're thinking VRAM probably. They mean the RAM sticks, not the GPU.
There is no game in the world that requires 32gb ram my dude.
We are talking about PC gaming. 32GB is a lot for PC gaming. I'd go so far as to say it is a ♥♥♥♥ ton.
Not anymore. I constantly see more than 20gb being used while playing modern games. Total system usage of course, which is the key detail. The game itself may not need more than 16gb, but in combination of windows 10 and other programs the total usage will easily go over 16gb.
Even with my stripped down and very optimized win10, i am still sitting at 5.2gb usage. I pop open chrome and that can easily jump to 7gb.
For just running a single game and nothing else, 32gb requirement is still a lot.
