How to add melee combat (zelda style)
Hi there,

thanks to you guys, I have made a game thats already quite fun to play. But I have to admit, I really hate these round based fights. I was thinking about melee combat like in the old Zelda games. I´ve already looked up some tutorials on yt and although here, but these were way too fast, and too advanced. Do you have any idea, how I could implement that the easy way?

You could have events with monster-skins running around that damage you shortly after touching you but if you face their direction and interact with them before the delay ends, they jump one step back, play a damage animation and take some damage (e.g. variable health points counting down from 10 to 0 for each time you hit it and it fades away at 0). I think there are also scripts available for that purpose.

Button Imput processing as well! You can make a common event be like a heal or special attack, dont attach it to anything but run the event on auto, you may need to make an imput for each direction but its similar to adding a Jump buton or Run Button.

There was also a collection of scripts and tilesets called Zelda Project, kinda like Pokemon essentials. The Zelda one was abandoned years ago but you can still download it.
