Game got cancelled
Their ambition was just too much. I knew after the 3rd or 4th delay it would not come out. Better to cancel a trash product than release it in early access. Every footage they have shown that game was not ready at all and literally had no direction

It had a direction: it was the modder's life sim. That was the direction it took.
But people were too stupid to understand this. And now it is gone. What a total waste.
No major company is ever going to make a mod-focused life sim. This was our one chance. What you'll get now is DLC infested walled gardens.

Honestly making a bare bones game and hoping modders fix the rest is not a direction. There was literal no gameplay. They shouldn’t have expected modders to put time in a game that has barely anything to do. Would have failed miserably and cancellation was the best option. They just tried to do too much at once and failed which is why it kept getting delayed. Now we have to look forward to paralives and Inzoi now

lol at people thinking modders were going to do the work for paradox

Aww, that's sad. I was really looking forward for the ridiculous amount of paid DLC's they would release for this game. I had a bet with a friend that buying every single DLC for this game would cost over $1000 in two years.

"Modders" aren't magical gnomes that just pop out of nowhere to work on games simply because they have moddability.

The game looked like absolute janky crap. No one is gone waste their time making mods for something like this.

Hope you didn't bet too much, then.

Bethesda doesn't give you a generic unity looking game with zero modder following lol.

A toolset you can make your own life sim with? Something with the power to make anything you want with? Wow sounds amazing, sounds like Neverwinter Nights back in the old days which was a mega hit. Sounds like Roblox right now which is a mega hit. Sounds like Second Life which was a mega hit. Sounds like Garry's Mod which was a mega hit. I'm sure there's things I haven't even thought of yet.

If they made literally nothing but a framework and extensive easy-to-use modding tools, it would be the best life sim ever made in a year and you'd be playing it. It would be worth every penny to buy and yes even you "modders shouldn't be expected to fix things" would buy it.

Everyone who can actually make mods is chomping at the bit to fix LBY. We'd be overjoyed at the freedom that InZoi and Paralives can't give us. Please, please, please give us the chance to fix LBY.

The problem is that kind of game is a terrible platform to sell DLC. A modding focused game? You can sell it once and that is that... and even if you did have DLC, there would always be free alternatives. So you've lost your one chance to have a life sim that isn't just a vending machine for cosmetic DLC.

I didn't know you had been elected the Emperor of Modders and knew what they wanted or what they were looking for.

I think what ultimately may have done it was the graphics. There was potential, but most people were just judging this book by it's cover.
koinzell Jun 18, 2024 @ 9:36pm
graphics is not the main issue. should be 2ndery,
even tho its a shame they picked a really ugly generic mobile looking boring assets as a presentation.

i had issue with the game-play.
it looked really bad & laggy,
Ai doesn't react to their surrounding & lack the ability to do things randomly on their own. this is a core problem.
why is this not a first priority in a "life sim" game?
dialogues text? watering flowers? building things? its irrelevant.
and this is by the sims 3 team?

modding is fine, but it should not be the main only factor to sell a game.
its just a hollow promises. if the core game is shallow and not good then what's the point of modding in the basic user friendly stuff?
if the devs didn't put any effort to make it look good & appealing then why should modders give a crap?

its the same problem with starfield, its not user-friendly.

Paradox is so incompetent they have to use modders to fix their broken games, they wanted modders to do the heavy lifting on this one as well.

A life sim fixed by modders? Sounds like the best life sim ever to me.
