Paradox isn't going to make the game free, so keep in mind that Paradox is not a charity, they are a business and they need to earn back what they invested into it over the years and then any profits after that to prove it's successful.

TS4 wasn't free on release and remained a buy only option for years before it clearly wasn't profitable enough to remain like that and could be put to better use free to play.

Paradox only does free after they milked like 600+ bucks out the base customer. Then its base game free and the DLC not on sale costs you as much as buying sim3 and all its DLC lol. In fact I think EA is doing base game free, and DLC not for sims 3 now lol.
