Are there pets in the game?

I seriously doubt that there would be in the base game, and I personally never begrudged pets being DLCs because they are completely different models, animations, etc. I am sure they will be a DLC, though. Perhaps an update if they wish for good will.

Seasons are more likely to be included in Life By You basegame than pets at least in my personal opinion, but the trailer did not hint any suggestion that even seasons would be included for basegame. The only game that is officially making seasons and pets basegame is Paralives.

Yeah, I also think it will be in a DLC and not already in the basegame. I also would understand/respect that. It would be awesome to see pets as soon as possible in this game, though.

I won't even speculate on whether it's basegame or some later DLC, but they would definitely be wanting to have this sort of thing in the game.

From what I've read so far they aren't yet at stage where even kids are working properly though.

I am kind of thinking that seasons should come before pets contrary to The Sims 4, but that is only based on my personal opinion. Pets for Life By You is most likely going to be dlc and possibly Seasons being a dlc as well.

Love seasons a lot too, so I wouldn't be upset if that one comes first. Pets right after that then, though! :D

As for seasons, I think it's possible we may get weather such as rain in the base game, but I think we'd likely get all 4 seasons as a DLC. The world that comes with base game looks like a California town with its palm trees, so I don't imagine it including all 4 seasons at launch.

Nobody has talked about this bit yet, but being able to actually take control of the pets is definitely something I'd like to see.

It is still way too early to know this for a fact where I could also be wrong, but based on the trailer alone where it looks like it would be easier to switch between households than any Sims games I honestly think that it would not be any different for pets similar to what they were like from The Sims 3 where you could have full control over them without needing a mod for that.

They'd have to add in the ability to operate the pet first.

Game being open world just means we can switch freely between lots, not necessarily that we could drop ourselves into one of the animals and take it for a spin.

How will they make Pets If this Game has a full Release in 1 Year?
Will Not Happen and its Paradox.
1 Year after Release you will get Like 6 DLCs with little Content for 20 Euro each
