co-op play?
So disappointing that this is only single player. Would have loved to share this world with someone real. Is it that hard to implement online co-op play?

You can share, just give him your saves and thats all. Coop isnt working with that type of games.

While I don't want co-op, if a game in this genre where to have it, it looks like this one might be able to get away with it. Sims can't pull it off without flopping and Paralives should stay small or they risk muddling their cozy vibes.

In a game like this it would ruin a save if for example you deleted all your coop partner's buildings or crept around the map quietly murdering their favourite characters.

Those sorts of trollish things are why these games should never be opened up to strangers infesting our games, but if it was just between friends and you were good with apologies then sure, go for it.

Though not something to give development time to when there are so many other things that need to be done. For me this would be at very bottom of list, and even then I'd never use it.

If you are disappointed by co-op play not being available then maybe this is not the right kind of game for you. Also, do not expect The Sims 5 (Project Rene) which is expected to allow multiplayer to come out this year or even the next year from 2024. At the very latest it might even be 2027 when The Sims 5 officially comes out.

I'll do it the traditional way, sitting together at the front of the screen and backseat comment

Other people ruin my enjoyment. I'm glad it's singleplayer.

Not to mention that not only is The Sims 5 expected to include multiplayer as a second option to single player, but it is also most likely going to be closed world as well similar to The Sims 4. I would not expect it to be open world or even open neighborhood (which is smaller than open world, but bigger than closed world).

An optional co-op feature sounds nice. I like the kind of games that allow you to play solo, as well as with a friend or two, depending on your choice.

I remember when the multiplayer mod came out for The Sims 4, I had a lot of fun with it! Something like that, but with proper implementation, could be a nice little addition. I wouldn't want it to be massively multiplayer or anything, but inviting a Steam friend to your game? Sure!

I don't think it'll ever happen, but still, love the idea nonetheless.

The first thought that comes to my mind with open world allowing the option for multiplayer is Minecraft, but I highly doubt that Life By You is going to include the option for multiplayer without using a mod for that as well.

That's the thing, open world multiplayer is a completely different beast to online co-op, where you just invite one or two of your actual friends or family to share it with you, at the same time or on own schedule. That can actually be a lot of fun without creating all the issues that playing with strangers poses.

have two separate modes. you can keep your multiplayer games, i'll stick to single player.

It would be a nice feature to invite others to play in co-op but I don't want it being a fully online game. Because if it is to be a co-op or online mode, there needs to be some sort of objective/missions to work towards that both game characters benefit from, and add to gameplay I feel. Otherwise I feel there would be no point?

When has ever a game that allows co-op force you to not play alone? Just choose singleplayer and let the game have co-op for other that want it.
