Dylan has confirmed that there will be a Linux version, but not immediately. AS2 runs on Unity, so it can actually be done this time.

I'll buy this as soon as it gets a Linux port. I love the first game, but I can't justify buying a new one if it doesn't offer a distinct advantage over the original (Linux)

It is using Unity, so a linux and OSX target are built into the engine. They only have to enable and test them.

I'd be surprised if they weren't available for testing later in the beta.
