[Linux & OS X] Help us help you.
In order to make better suggestions on how to help you with your problems, we are going to need additional information.

Please upload your debug log to a service like pastebin[pastebin.com] in order for us (and the dev) to have a look at your issue. If your log happens to be too large, simply move it out of the way (e.g. rename it). Audiosurf 2 will create a new file and output its debug information to the new file. The log file will look similar to this[gist.github.com]

Log locations
  • Linux: "~/.config/unity3d/Audiosurf, LLC/Audiosurf 2/Player.log"
  • OS X: "~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log" (the Library folder in your home folder is hidden. Open "Console.app" via Spotlight, then look in the left sidebar for the file.)
  • Windows: "PATH/TO/STEAM/steamapps/common/audiosurf 2/audiosurf2_data/output_log.txt"

OS X

General information: No, you currently cannot directly use your iTunes library to select songs, you have to browse to them directly or use Autofind music. (mentioned here)

OS X - Debug help
  • If you are asked to start the game from Terminal, open Spotlight (the second to right icon on the top of your screen), enter "Terminal". Then enter"~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Audiosurf\ 2/Audiosurf2.app/Contents/MacOS/Audiosurf2" (This is all one line, sorry for the line breaks)

OS X - Known Issues
  • FLAC is not working on OS X. (confirmed)
  • Autofind music will scan current user's home (at least) twice and list duplicate song results.
  • Autofind music (still) scans /Volumes/MobileBackups
  • SOLVED by Build 641133 - File browser is broken. Video[v.usetapes.com], Log entries that go with the issue

Linux - Known Issues
  • Linux build ignores .M4A files. (checked with @spl on Gentoo, Build 639421)

Credits

  • @spl for helping me find the log location on Linux
  • @evoL for uploading a video showing the file browser bug on OS X

PS: @LOLCAT, since you're extremely active here and try to support both Linux and OS X users, could you friend me, since I think we should go over some general recommendations, e.g. file system permissions, log locations, etc.

.m4a are not supported. It's not really a bug and is an understandable situation but still would like to see that changed :)

I'm having a problem with the game, it's not a matter of filetype but it just crashes before i get a chance to play. Whether i choose a song from soundcloud or from my own library the game just hangs itself when i have chosen a song or even when i just browse the songs.

What is your OS? Also, if it's Linux which distro is it?

On OS X 10.10.3 the file browser doesn't seem to work. Only one directory seems to be found. The Recent songs and Random songs categories seem to display the songs. Search works properly too.

I recorded a video of me trying to browse through my directories: https://v.usetapes.com/O1DwaOK906.

Do you have a source for that information?

Please check the log file for any indications of problems. If you're having trouble, consider removing information you deem sensitive and upload the log file for others to take a look.

I have a problem that I e-mailed support about, and received an answer that didn't solve it.

When I try to run the game, the title screen doesn't show any text except for player names. All of the text seems to be replaced with some sort of "Box or circle with an A in it". for lack of a better description.

When I sent a screenshot to support, they said there is a problem with my Arial font. I went through my font book and cleaned everything up, but I'm still having the same problems.

This is the second game to have this problem. I believe the other is Drox, which worked fine on my old mac laptop, but not on my new MacBook Air.

Any ideas? Is there some potentially corrupted resource I should look into?

Mac OS X 10.10.3

Leaderboards are not loading for me as of today. Yesterday they worked fine without any issues. See log at http://pastebin.com/V9qnuQyE for details.

Are you on the bleedingedge beta? Also, I'm on Windows and not seeing the leaderboards either, so it's not an OSX specific issue.

I'm not currently opted into the beta.

Update: Dylan said in another thread that AS2's gameservers are currently down due to power failure at the moment.

Please try to reproduce with a fresh log file and upload that as well as a screenshot. I'll see if I can come up with any hints.
