This question has been asked so many times and the answer is still no... The reason why you can't do this, is because that Spotify's API is not available as an OPEN-SOURCE.
But ofc this feature would be one of the greatest so far! ^-^
Spotify is meh now due to this.
I have tried Tidal's service and compared it with other services and other music formats and you can hardly notice a difference, certainly nothing that would warrant paying almost double for Tidal. Sure if you have a high quality pair of headphones or a high-end audio system of say a good DAC and speakers, then you can notice the slight differences but honestly if you have that equipment then even MP3's will sound better, it's not because of the format but because of the equipment you're listening to the music on.
My advice would be to get a better pair of headphones and to just use MP3's (preferably 320kbps).
As far as the game goes and the use of streaming services with it, I think this is something that would hugely benefit the game and seeing as online streaming is the way a lot of people get their music now and is actively being encouraged by the music industry, then I think being able to use the most popular services would be great. Although, I can completely understand the difficulties in being able to incorporate these into the game, not only from a technical standpoint but also a monetary one in terms of licensing.
for the past 7 years ive been uploading flac files to private trackers for public use.
what i do is get a 320kps mp3 file, and convert it to a flac format.
thousands of people have been downloading my "flac" files for years.
This is a bunch of crap. I took Tidal's test and I was able to get 2/5 and it was just luck as I didn't hear any difference in the sound.
It isn't that my sound equipment is crap either as I am using the Sennheiser HD650's through the Audioengine D1 DAC and I cannot tell a difference between FLAC and 320kbps MP3s.
Past 320kbps, the frequencies that are removed or normalized are far past that any person can hear, regardless of age.
I suspect most of the people who are championing FLAC etc have more of a vested interest in it (people like Neil Young, Tidal etc) and can probably afford the super expensive hi-tech audio equipment required to notice the difference. For everyone else though, there really isn't any difference so don't be sucked into this trap of paying more money for something that is exactly the same as what you already have.
