It's a shame and a real problem as most subscription-based streaming services which allow you to download files for offline use, have them in some DRM-enabled format and it's really hard to convert them.
I don't want to do anything illegal or rip-off the record companies, I just want to be able to play the music in Audiosurf. I'm a subscriber to Xbox Music which is going to become Microsoft Groove with the release of Windows 10 and I'm worried that too will abandon it's current WMA format and go for something much more restrictive that only works within their player. This seems to be the way now with most services.
A side note about Apple Music too, I tried listening to an album yesterday (Fist City's Everything Is A Mess) and noticed that Apple Music skipped a couple of tracks when streaming it. So this leaves me a little unsure about what the rest of their catalogue is like.
