Is there any way to use 3-button keyboard controls?
I played nearly 200 hours in AS1, and I used the number keys 1, 2, and 3 to change lanes. I just got Audiosurf 2, and it looks like this is no longer possible for some reason. I don't want to re-learn the game with my mouse or controller after so much time in the original, and I should think controls would be super-easy to fix.

If I use the default controls, I have to hold down a direction button the whole time I want to be in the left or right lanes, and just press nothing to let it snap back to the middle.

OR, I can disable auto-centering, which I did using the guide that gets linked in every single thread on this subject. Now my problem is that I have to make TWO key presses to get from lane 1 to lane 3, rather than the ONE press it took in AS1. This makes it even worse.

I should be able to press 1 for lane 1, 2 for lane 2, and 3 for lane 3, and not have to hold them down. Is this even possible? I mean, I don't mind if the buttons are not actually 1, 2, and 3, they could be z, x, and c or any number of adjacent keys, but this doesn't seem like it should be so difficult to set up, and if I can't fix it, I'm barely going to touch AS2

Sadly I don't think there is. I played Audiosurf 1 that way too... just can't get used to the arrow keys with auto-centering, and playing without autocentering isn't really an option. I find that the next best control scheme is playing with a controller, since thumbsticks inherently auto-center just like the ship does.

Hopefully they add that control scheme back sometime in the future though. Otherwise, without a controller, it's unplayable for me.

I've been playing around with the game some more, and it keeps finding ways to frustrate me with the controls.

I conceded that MAYBE I could get used to the new keyboard controls... In the Mono modes. But I tried to play Pusher, and it's just not doable for me. I can no longer use the < and > keys in place of mouse clicks, so it looks like I'm pretty much forced to learn the mouse if I ever want to play a puzzle mode again.

I really don't understand why it was necessary to uproot these basic functions of the game for people who don't want to use the mouse. Was there ANYBODY who WANTED these changes?
