Linux Version Issues, need help
so the game currently has this persistent issue where the game opens, runs, works fine on the first launch, does the performance testing thing, it works, but then when i run it a second time, it's like it opens into just a splashscreen. it has nothing but the audiosurf logo at the top, no loading, and it just ends up saying it's not responding and prompting me to force quit.

i'm running the Linux native version on Mint + Cinnamon, and am using the force directx9 fix too. it's like it doesn't take the first step (performance testing) and crashes every time. deleting the audiosurf folder in unity3d in my ~/.config folder doesn't help or do anything

i really love this game and it worked a few updates ago. it's like this is just a ghost issue and i can't solve it. launching the game manually does weird things too, it's like it opens the performance testing thing separate from the actual program, and it seems to open almost like, different programs? it's weird and i don't understand the behaviour and i spent an hour on this yesterday and the issue has persisted today. any help would be greatly appreciated, or a way to try and contact the dev to try and get help for this issue

It might be the audio library, it uses an old version of BASS, you can either try the windows version or install (if your distro uses pipewire, which must use nowadays I think) "pipewire-pulse"
Not a 100% guaranteed fix but it worked for some

Or... You could also download the latest BASS.so library from https://www.un4seen.com/ and replace the old version with that one. That's what I did and it worked out fine.

Running Linux Mint 21.3 MATE.

That is indeed a way, however it will mess up local song rendering. Why? Because 2.4.9 had a bit of an error in the FFT calculation which Dylan accounted for but which is obviously fixed in later versions. But then local songs go out of sync pretty fast.

As for the community patch, you can use the windows version of the game with it, you just need to copy everything from the plugins folder into the root game directly, otherwise it wont find some DLLs

Alternatively use this

hey I ended up using this. I just saw these replies and thank you both for replying. I've been consistently pleasantly surprised how often people talk and help on Steam <3. windows version under an older version of proton is working fine for me.

I'll also try the bass.so library thing later too as I'm interested and more than happy to experiment, I'll let y'all know how that goes
