When/Why did youtube streaming get removed?

I haven't played in a while and i go to play a song off youtube but i cant play songs off youtube and my recently played is filled up with ♥♥♥♥ i've never played.

YouTube terms of service changed, which meant/means that a bunch of games no longer were/are allowed to stream YouTube content within the game. Audiosurf 2 was one game affected (along with Audioshield and apparently other music and rhythm games.)

The ToS change was a fair while ago, like early-mid 2018.

A few new songs have been added to the game's built-in library since then, which is probably what's showing up in your "recently played" list.
