Local music has low bit rate
So when I load up some of my local music, (lowbitrate) is added to the end of it. Any idea?

Well, do they have a low bitrate? What is the bitrate, bit depth, and sample rate of the files?
It does that when the file has a low bitrate. It happened to my old Linkin Park collection which was 22050 Hz (half the CD sample rate) MP3 at 80 kbit/s.
Presumably it’s because the noticeable quality degradations from low bitrates may change the way the track is built, so the tracks for high-quality/high-bitrate and low-quality/low-bitrate files may not be similar enough to share a scoreboard.

That's the idea, but it doesn't really matter. Different track layouts end up on the same scoreboard all the time. Even slight deviations can make a world of difference in score potential. Nevermind the fact that you can use an entirely different song to post to any board you like as long as the Artist and Title tags match and the duration is about the same.

The scoreboards in this game are pointless unless everyone on a particular scoreboard agrees to use the EXACT same file. This system is fine considering it is an indie game developed and maintained by one person. It's just too bad that one person doesn't really maintain anything anymore. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Dylan, come back already. Make one final polishing push for this game. It deserves it. How do you sleep at night?

Low bitrate is flagged when the track being used is, precisely, encoded at low bitrates. This would be <= 128Kbps for mp3, 64Kbps for wma (could be higher), and other quality deficits. That is because quality fluctuations actually mess with the algorithm designed to draw the track, due to the increase of artifacts in the medium because of the compression of low bitrate. This could be seen as an unfair advantage in certain game modes. If the game detects a low bitrate and thinks it could drastically alter the track-drawing algorithm, then it will be flagged as (low bitrate).

Nothing you can do except make an encode of the track with higher quality. If you're concerned about size, consider using V0 or V1 VBR over 320/256Kbps CBR for MP3.

Yes, but again, it doesn't matter. Low bitrate or not, if everyone isn't using the exact same file, then there will be unfair advantages/disadvantages (often times drastic ones). It's pretty pointless that Dylan included this low bitrate flag.

The term "higher quality" is a bit misleading. You can take that same low-bitrate track and put it through another conversion (thus degrading the sound quality even further), but as long as the resulting file has an adequately high bitrate, it will get rid of the low bitrate flag. Again, pointless.

Use FLAC or MP3 320kbs; in-game compression has never been noticable to me.

(but I also have hearing damage. probably)
