These are actually one in the same. Many insects have names that vary based on reigon. The potato bug is another example of this.
Same here. It's also missing a bit of clarification data on them - but given it IS a game, I will put it here just for general trivia information: The rash isn't a universal response, it only happens to those who happen to be allergic to them so its more a hive response. not dangerous, but the itchy factor is through the roof (as someone who went traveled to Detroit and found out the hard way about both bedbugs and the fact I am one of the aforementioned people whoa re unfortunately allergic to them. the itch factor would be probably the same as about say, 20 mosquito bites if they all bit the same area, only lasting days rather than minutes or hours as happens with mosquito bites).
Well, it IS classified as a horror game.
Fair enough, haha.
hey now, I will have no bug hate on my thread!
basically they are just another blood sucking parasite. i could make a political joke about the IRS, but someone would either get bent out of shape or decide to go on a political rant so I'll skip that. i meant a shield bug is a stink bug. its not a variant as much as just regional terminology.
Example: A potato bug as known in my area is also called elsewhere a wood louse and in other places a roly-poly bug. it is actually none of these, the original non scientific name is a pill bug. *shrugs*
They probably just couldn't find a good image of a real bed bug. most just show their leavings which to be fair is generally how most people end up knowing they have them as you really only see them outright in extreme infestation situations given they LOVE to hide. not just under or between mattresses but any cracks, heck even wall outlets. My area doesn't have them, but i did encounter some when i went to Detroit and yeah-nasty. I didn't even feel the bite or crawling at all. what I did feel was the extreme itch factor due to the allergic reaction so yeah...i think i would of done the wording to point out the allergic rash/welt/hive reaction to their saliva is just that, an allergic reaction and not just 'and in some cases a rash'. in the hopes people would understand they'd only get the rash/welt/hive response if allergic. most have zero clue they have ever been bit by one otherwise. i was glad to see they did however include that their bites unlike most blood feeding species does not spread disease.
You seem to be a fan of Bad Mojo , released in 1996, if you show this kind of enthusiasm about bugs. If you haven't played it, try the Redux version released in 2014.
