How do you datamine New Horizons?
I only want to remove some hero profile pictures, like the idiotic actors from Commander heroes, and female Warriors.

Thank you. But grabber only reads .dat files. If I modify these files, Eador crashes. Obviously, there are references to the bitmaps inside. So I need to open the .exe files somehow to remove the lines that are referencing the unneeded hero portraits,
I don't know how to edit .exe file but in your case you can just replace unneeded portraits with other ones, that you like.
Export portraits that you like (Object -> Export).
Then replace unneeded (Object -> Grab; File -> Save -> OK).

To turn off female heroes open Eador.cfg in a root game folder and edit this option (next to the last line).

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks! I did all this and it works like a charm. Back to immersive, purist hero portraits. It was a real pain having to manually export all portraits AND small portraits one-by-one, and if that wasn't enough, grabber defaulted the folder every time so I had to visit it each time. But it was worth it!

You can simply replace 2 files in the dat folder (Portraits.dat and SmallPort.dat) with the original files (make a backup first). There are some alternative portrait sets as well. Here a relevant thread about portraits on the russian forum (preview and links to original and alternative portrait sets):

That's what I tried at first, but the game crashed. Kikker's solution of manually replacing the portraits worked for me.

I have just tried to switch the portraits and it works without problems (original and alternative sets from the thread). Did you close Eador before replacing the files? What version of New Horizons do you have? 18.0601.f01? I'm not sure that the portrait files from the original game are compatible with the mod (the sets from the thread are compatible, because they are based on the NH files).

Oh, I see, I used Genesis's original portrait files, which caused the crash. But then I replaced the pictures manually with Grabber, as Kikker suggested, and it worked.

Sorry to bump but i want to chamge number of unit buildings (barracks) to Lv1 = 5 / Lv2 = 4 and so on (5, 4, 3, 2 rather than 4, 3, 2, 1)
I mean for tier 1 i want to purchase 5 unit buildings.
I can do that but UI does not support it because max 12 unit shown in barracks (including mercenary)
Can i increase this number? Thanks.

You can change the "Max" value in build_group.var, e.g. for t1 units (5 t1 units instead of 4):

/1 Units1
Max: 5
Name: Produces first rank units;

Also in New Horizons you can level up a militiaman to any of the castle t1.

I actually meant the UI. I believe its hardcoded in game design.
