Thank you. But grabber only reads .dat files. If I modify these files, Eador crashes. Obviously, there are references to the bitmaps inside. So I need to open the .exe files somehow to remove the lines that are referencing the unneeded hero portraits,
Export portraits that you like (Object -> Export).
Then replace unneeded (Object -> Grab; File -> Save -> OK).
To turn off female heroes open Eador.cfg in a root game folder and edit this option (next to the last line).
Thanks! I did all this and it works like a charm. Back to immersive, purist hero portraits. It was a real pain having to manually export all portraits AND small portraits one-by-one, and if that wasn't enough, grabber defaulted the folder every time so I had to visit it each time. But it was worth it!

That's what I tried at first, but the game crashed. Kikker's solution of manually replacing the portraits worked for me.
I mean for tier 1 i want to purchase 5 unit buildings.
I can do that but UI does not support it because max 12 unit shown in barracks (including mercenary)
Can i increase this number? Thanks.
