I have a tough time with it, but I'm still kind of a newbie.
I am usually not at all a fan of multiplayer and would rather play against bots too, even in games that tend to be designed more for multi than single play... but I cannot imagine playing this game single player beyond learning the game or being really, really bored (and even then, not for long). Multiplayer, on the other hand (when you can get a full game played), is very enjoyable. Again, this coming from someone who tends to hate the very idea of multiplayer.

As for challenge, it's pretty much just random chance. Either the bots will make their typical head-scratching decisions and leave you to win, or you'll get unlucky and they'll all gang up on you and you'll lose (it's usually the former with me, but I've read about it being the latter with others).

You should keep in mind, by the way, that this is an adaptation of a board game. It's really meant to be played with other people, and if the idea of that is not appealing to you, maybe board games aren't your thing. Also, even if multiplayer tends not to be your interest, you may be shocked into shame to discover that you actually enjoy it in this game.

Hello,
At first, playing a 2-player game against the AI never saw me won, As each time, the AI was attacking.my race.
As I am a newbie on this game, this could explain my constant failure.
And then, I bought the DLCs and felt a change, The AI wasn't that strong anymore.
Surely, I've learned some tricks with the races, the special powers and the combinations of the 2, but that doesn't explain how suddenly the AI had a hard time against me.

Maybe the add-ons of the DLCs aren't as well AI programmed than the Base-content and so the AI loses time, doing stupid things with wrong combinations?

For example, the AI doesn't know how to use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. When the AI takes the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you can consider you have won the game.

And I recently played on 5-players games against the AI. 3 to 4 times on 5, I won the game.
And actually, when you play a bit against the AI, you'll see some patterns.
For example, in 5-players game, when using the giants, the AI will always attack the mountains in the "southest" part of the board unless occupied by Troll's lairs or by special powers/races that prevents a territory to be conquered. So, when there's a good chance the AI will pick the Giants, just stay away from the mountains and you won't be bothered.
As well, I rarely see the AI trying to conquer the southwest part of the board.

But sometimes, you'll see the AI doing strong usage of combinations and decline.
Let's say that for newbies, the AI is a good way to learn how to play, how the game works..

I find the AI enjoyable to play against but most of the time not especially difficult.
I love the game and so that makes me biased towards the AI being fun, but I've been playing for a while and I don't tend to lose all that often. Play 4-5 players and you'll find that games will be closer than the 2 or 3 player variants.
